The President's Report

This promises to be a busy year for the PSE. We have started with the Echo Workshops for the echosonographers last June 18, 2011 at the Bonaventure building. There will be 10 sessions with topics from the basics to the must-know and common diseases. However, for this year, it will be more frequent, almost weekly to end just in time for our annual convention in September 2011.

PSE Cebu Workshop

A compressed 2-day workshop for echosonographers was held in Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City on July 16-17, 2011. Led by Dr. Edwin Tucay, the Faculty was composed of Drs. Joyce Jumangit, Cori Sengson and Glenda Tubianosa, Delia Caracut, Pilberito Chin, Silahis Rosario and Ma. Louella Quijano. The 10 modules were similar to the course being conducted in Manila. Mr. Wilbur B. Canonigo, President and CEO of Medical One, generously provided 4 echo machines for the hands-on sessions to supplement the didactic sessions.

A total of 80 participants enrolled in the course with many coming from as far as Mindanao. Drs. Lerma Noval and Alex Junia headed the preparations for the workshop. The Cardiology training Fellows of the Heart Institute of Chong Hua Hospital also provided invaluable support.

It was an auspicious occasion for the PSE. We took the opportunity to induct 40 new members from the region composed of 9 MDs and 31 echosonographers.

The enthusiasm of the participants, the generosity of Medical One, and the vigorous support of our Cebu friends made the event really rewarding for all of us! The positive feedbacks we got from the participants are enough motivations for us to persevere in pursuing similar activities for the benefit of our members. This event was an innovation that we dared to try. We were not disappointed at all!
